I have compared several schools before my decision. I want to learn Chinese well and I also like to know Chinese culture. And I think the attitude of the teacher, the consultant here are all very positive. I like to stay with them and get the care from th
I started working for Chinese Company in the spring of 2008. It has been 6 years and quite a learning experience.
It is quite a different concept than working for the Americans. The salaries may not be high but the responsibility of
the company towards the worker is more like a family rather than a large company. Most Chinese companies have
company housing and restaurants for the workers. The first Chinese I worked for not only fed and housed us but
brought me clothes and special food just for me. Everyone ate together and we all washed our own dishes. The next
company was a big conglomerate. There we didn’t wash our own dishes and the eating facilities were divided into
two different classes. One was for the workers and was more like a cafeteria style eating facility; the other was for the
executives and quite elegant. The workers were provided with dormitory like facilities and the executives were housed
in a hotel. The workers all had clothing provided but the executives did not.
Most foreigners say,” oh the Chinese have such low salaries.” Well maybe they do but their salary is their savings; they
don’t need their salary to live. In western society often our salary is not enough to pay the rent, taxes, health insurance etc.
Especially in today’s economy people are not able to pay their bills at the end of the month. Children are moving back in
with parents at 40 because the salaries are too low to pay the bills. If you make a comparison with the Chinese factories
or big companies you can start to understand the differences. To feed 100 people is less expensive than each person
going to the super market and buying his own food. Giving people a uniform is less expensive than each person buying
his own clothes. One needs to live this to understand it. The Chinese companies are Extended families. Just like a family
you have the same problems. This is very different from a western company.
